Hello guys. It's been awhile.

Hi all, Thought I'd jump back into Trainz again after running MSTS for the past few years. I've always liked Trainz. Has everybody upgraded to the latest version? I'm still running '04 but will be upgrading to '09 later next week. I have no internet at this time and I understand the later versions n...

Here's a sneak preview on YouTube; http://www.youtube.com/user/OpenRails The smoke and steam effects are still under development but, a 'standby' for smoke has been implemente...

Re: Open Rails, the new RR sim

Hi Curtis,
Yeah, it is fun. I'm enjoying it.

I've heard Trainz 10 is a pretty good version. The AI is amazing and works quite well.

Re: My MSTS models and stuff

Hi all, Wanted to show off my first released locomotive. The RGS #1 was the first motor car the Rio Grande Southern Railroad (RGS) ever put on the rails. It was custom build for W. D. Lee and constructed from a 1913 Model T Ford and was called an Inspection Car. 600rgs1.jpg Also, this 1865 stock car...

Open Rails, the new RR sim

Hi guys, Thought I'd inform you of an up and coming Open Rails release. I'm now on the dev team and thought I'd share a little information with you. We've just posted an official announcement to the train sim community. I've copied and pasted it here; Dear Train Simulator community, In an effort to ...

One of my beta testers has installed it like this. I think he did a great job.

Re: My MSTS models and stuff

Yuri from down under at the Steam4me site has graciously hosted my new tutorial.
He's given it a bit of a more professional re-write and I'm really excited about it.
Take a look-n-see;

Thanks again, Yuri

Re: My MSTS models and stuff

I've written a new tutorial for those who might want to make 3D chain. It's designed for the 'newbie' and shouldn't be of much interest to the 'old' hands out there who already know 3DC. It comes in a .zip file in PDF format with a rusty texture for bucket filling the object. It's called, Let's Make...

Re: My MSTS models and stuff

Thanks, Curtis. I think they came out pretty well, too.
The Monson RR 'gang' are shrinking my models down to 2 foot gauge. I guess they like 'em, too. LOL

Re: My MSTS models and stuff

The route builder is still a long ways off at this time. The OR team is concentrating on real world physics and getting all the locomotives and rolling stock from MSTS up and running right now. Track has been layed, by an MSTS route you choose, and the trains are running on 'em quite well. Number on...

Re: My MSTS models and stuff

Hi all,
The Open Rails team have just released a somewhat working version for us all to try out. It is very limited in operation so don't expect much at this time but, you can load routes and run trains.

Here's a direct link to the download build;

Enjoy!

Re: My MSTS models and stuff

Thanks, Curtis.
Yup I'm still at it and with the new sim coming out, I'm really looking forward to the higher poly count detailed work I can get away with.

I found some more good info about Open Rails here; http://openrails.org/faq.htm

Re: My MSTS models and stuff

Hi guys, I see it's been a few months since I've popped in over here. Glad to see everybody is still at it. Trainz is a lot of fun. Does everyone know that a new train sim is in development? It's called, Open Rails or OR . It's going to use all MSTS content. The poly count doesn't matter much anymor...
