Re: More NG30 stuff in progress....

Its pretty much what the most recent picture looks like, but I did reskin the bogey to match. I haven't had much luck with making it load bulk stuff though. On the other hand, the biggest reason its not gotten done is that I entirely forgot about it. Now that I've been reminded, I will try to make s...

Re: The General

That is a great movie (especial the railroad aspect, but somewhat funny otherwise). If you haven't seen it, you should. Its well worth it.

Re: Fascinating photos.

Wow! Thats worse than some things Ive made. It just goes to show that no matter how insanely weirdly you model logging, there is usually a prototype.

Re: Season Greetings to all!

Here is the map. http://www.mediafire.com/?mk3yqjqzzgq There are only a few dependencies and I think all of them are on the DLS. I have a few hints that might be useful to know when using this. -Ignore the red and green arrows. They are usually wrong. Just use the target on the switch stand. -Turn o...

Re: Season Greetings to all!

That reminds me... I made this little thing one day when I was bored and hot. I planned to release it for Christmas and almost forgot. http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e272/mrail/SnowGlobe2.jpg http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e272/mrail/SnowGlobe3.jpg http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e272/mrail/...

Now I need to deal with the running gear. Whenever it goes around almost any curve the drive shafts dont line up. theres plenty more to do, but atleast it looks finished now.

Ken I used seperate files for different textures, with a few exceptions where there is a reason to group stuff together. I doubt that much could be done as far as reskinning without remaping some of the parts. The black, for instance, is just done somewhat randomly. I was planing on some accomidatio...

That looks good. Now my big engines dont have to sit outside either 8) . you should come up with your own set of "enginehouse and logging Junk," just the stuff you would find lying around the back of an enginehouse or a logging area. For example, old rusty cable (made as a spline) old donk...

Ok, I didnt think I would get it to show up right tonight, but nothing went wrong :D . It works, although I will need to tweak a few things, like lightening it up so its not a black hole.

I could probably do that. I dont know much about animation, but I can probably adjust the one it has now. The trucks are essentialy 36" gauge ones with the wheels moved in 3" from each end to get 30" gauge, so evrything works right in both gauges. I dont think that would be any problem.

I was not planing on saying anything about it untill I was fairly shure it would get finished. Now it is fairly complete and I brought it up in Rick's post, so here it is again. I plan to make one in 3ft and one in 30in guage. I also may make other variations on it. http://i41.photobucket.com/albums...

Yeah, just 2 or 3 months with gmax, but the amount of 3d modeling in other programs I do is probably bad for my health  . I use autodesk inventor for a class in school, and then at home I tend to end up using sketchup for designing various things in the real world. I guess I ought to start a n...
