Re: Playing with Blender

Is this a flatcar I see before me?

Nice work here, loving that underframe detail.

Re: Playing with Blender

Hey Curtis et al: There's a program called Crazybump that y'all might be interested in. It creates displacement, specular and normal maps based on a diffuse texture, to good effect as shown here with a little test on YVRR #21: http://fc06.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2014/189/4/f/shining_metal_by_trainboi-...

Re: Playing with Blender

I sure will. 8) Got a British loco uploading to the DLS and now updating another one to the same standards. Also getting YVRR #21 ready for textures. Hope you have a good summer(conveniently, today is the literal first day of summer) as well.

Re: Playing with Blender

 This is great news. I have wanted a small flour mill for ages now, and you've certainly done justice to the quintessential flour mill here. :D Well done, man. Keep up the good work, and have fun while I run around like a chicken with its head cut off because school's out.

Re: North Tahoe Narrow Gauge

Bump Mapping... ;) He said 3D...Bump mapping is still textured on in my book XD Besides, I've not yet worked out how that works, when I try to bake the normals it just comes out one solid color. :| Unfortunately not, Curtis. It was a real shame, but I did at least get to see some of the P&W ope...

Heh, that would certainly be a poly-killer. Just as a note, last time I tried to bake a model with 3D bolts, my computers crashed. No matter which one I tried it on. So I don't know that that can happen.

Re: North Tahoe Narrow Gauge

I downloaded the route a few weeks ago and have been impressed with it so far, but the lack of appropriate locos was a let down. My same feelings. I've also felt let down by Ben Dorsey's RPO #107 model, so I'm very glad that I have drawings for that. But anywho, mapped out my plans for #2...

Re: North Tahoe Narrow Gauge

Oooh, that would be neat. Then I could just render 'em up to match whatever paint schemes I'm doing work on at any given time. Not that I couldn't reskin them, but beaing able to have a PSD of them would no doubt be invaluable in getting them to match.
