Re: Sad news of a departed friend
I honestly didn't know Norm well, but he did provide very good feedback on betas. He had a very good eye for spotting errors, and what's more is he was actually willing to point them out. It seems that there are relatively few Trainz users who actually will. It's a great loss to lose one of the few....

Like mine, but better.
I think the virtual cab that Jon put on that was an interesting idea. (Or was that on V&T 22?)

Re: My first attempt at chunky mesh track
Thanks, Ken, and you are right... They don't leak down the middle. Found this fact out after my stay in Cass. I noticed something a little odd about the track. I've been playing around railroad tracks all my life and am familiar with the basic look of rails but, something was wrong in my mind at Ca...

Re: Crop Duster's Association
Now for Ben, you would need a 1920 panel truck or flatbed that would serve as a delivery vehicle from the mainline freight depot, let's say "Ben's Fertilizers" and have it run out to the field to make the delivery to the "producer" platform. 1920s, so older than this ? I think I...

Re: Crop Duster's Association
You started a Jenny? Lol - I was thinking of doing one also - maybe also a mail truck to go with it. I'll step aside, though, and let you finish yours - I have enough unfinished projects anyway (mogul?) ;) As an aside, I always liked the name of that plane - the manufacturer was (almost) my name, a...

Re: Crop Duster's Association
Just for fun, give it a steam locomotive engine spec and cab, with a silent engine sound. Listen for the clicky-clacky. IIRC, steam engines do not have the track noise. I might be able (when I say might, I mean I've made a script that basically does this already) to make it have a dieselish engine s...

Re: Updated a couple of items on the DLS
Well surely, err... I mean, pencil you could make the boiler and wheels glossier and more rounded... ? That can be done in TRS2004 as well. The glossiness you speak of is not new on locomotives, just ground textures. Likewise, boilers can be made with as many polys as a person wants fo...

I always like water towers like that. BTW, it looks like the closest diagonal member may have flipped normals; you might want to check on that.

Re: Mystery Train?
It appears to be a SAR (South African Railways) 19D class 4-8-2. Don't know where, though I'd guess somewhere along one of the coasts of South Africa.

While the roundhouses at Durango, Gunnison, and Chama were all built when K-27s were the biggest power, they were used by K-36s and K-37s later on.

Re: Best texture and shader for TRS lighting?
I don't think there's much you can do shader wise to make it look better. My advice would be to continue experimenting on the texture to get something that works. One thing you might want to try would be to use different shades of gray on different parts. I find using a slightly (10 points at most) ...

In a complete reversal of standard practices, I shall ask a question:
Is there such a thing as a switch on a pole-road, and if so, how does it work?

Re: Is anyone interested in modeling this car?
That's already been made. It is on the download station under KUID2:83902:1010:1 . There is also one with brake platforms under KUID2:83902:1011:2 . Unfortunately, I can't remember the gauge that was used. Probably 2 foot.
