Seperate asset. The coloring is proto for some railroad, but I can't remember which right now. I agree with the need for a seperator at the joint of the two colors.

I like that boxcar. My experience is that most boxes in the US had peaked roofs rather than curved ones. That might be a variation you could make later. I don't think I'll need any cars for the Kiso engine. The railway that used it only had disconnects and brake wagons built on disconnect frames. I'...

I told you the 2-4-2T was too big :P It's just the nature of the machine, it's too big for that tiny little enginehouse. Well, the 0-4-2T should fit (I have no drawings, so I have to guess. But, that's how I did the Vulcan and Magma engines.) It looks like the Vulcan is around the same height and wi...

Proof of concept:
f(x)
Vulcan and 2-4-2t in 30" gauge. Requires the betas from the 36" gauge versions for the requisite parts.

Okay, I have done some comparisons and the Vulcan is the same width (!) as the EMRR cars, so that's a definate conversion. I am not sure about the Magma engine, though. It is much bigger than the EMRR cars, but I think I've seen an outside frame 2-4-2T in 30" gauge that would be around the same...

Nice. I ought to make something in 30" gauge one of these days. I wonder if the Vulcan would look good in 30 inch gauge?

Yep, a frog would be good. You will also need a harp switchstand. Once you have that, you can get rid of the silly arrows. Just keep in mind that harp switchstands indicate the opposite of what you'd think (swing to the left, go on the right path; swing to right, go to left)

Okay, I got some dimensions. The roof walk should be 1.5 feet wide, side doors should be 5 feet wide.

Nice! I say make the running board a bit wider, and possibly make the door wider. I'll need to check some drawings to get a door and running board width for you.

Freshly painted cars almost never show any wood grain, until you get very close. Our weathered work car doesn't show much grain through the paint, because the paint peeled, exposing the wood. Here's some pics of our Western Union work car: 1 2, kinda blurry 3, just a corner but closer than the rest ...

The UP owned the DSP&P at one point. I seem to recall the V&T owned the C&C. Don't know about CP, unless you count SP, which did have narrow gauge. While I know about locomotive colors for the 1860s-1930s, I don't know much about freight car colors. Boxcar red seems most common, but ther...

That's always been my assumption, re the headlights. I have a few railroad rulebooks from various eras. The 1909 M&NA, 1912 GA, and 1940 MP all say headlights on at night only. Same with marker lights. The 1957 SLSF and 1967 L&N say lights on at day and night. Marker lights seem to be only f...

There was actually a 5-10 year period when all major railroads were converting. Link & Pins became illegal in interchange service around 1905, so any shortlines that had their cars in interchange service would have converted them to autos. Cars that never left railroad property were exempt until...
