Re: Class B Willamette WIP
I have heard that this is suspended indefinatly. Is this true? No, just for the moment. I've taken up a rather smaller project involving wooden-rail locomotives and rolling stock. My main problem is the walschaerts valve gear. I cannot find any documentation as to how it operates. I can always take...

Re: My 3DC locomotives in 3' NG
I'm sure it'd be possible to create an animated junction with relaying poles. Just a note here, there are two kinds of wood roads. One is made with poles, or cut timber which is smoothed. The other is made with milled wood sections, in 2x4 style. I'm looking more on the lines of the milled wood for ...

Re: My 3DC locomotives in 3' NG
I assume it'd work like any switch. You take each pole and slide them over to the other track. Unless there some other way...

Re: My 3DC locomotives in 3' NG
Might you be interested in making a wide-flanged version of this loco? I've been thinking of starting a rather long term wood-road project to bring that sort of thing to TRS.
Just a thought.

Re: Class B Willamette WIP
I get them mainly from Google searches. I find smaller Shays the most, but I found a few big ones. I also have a CAD drawing of West Side Lumber Co. #15. Luckily, because it takes so little time to model things, I can switch projects if I want and come back to it later. I may even do a quick oddity,...

Re: Class B Willamette WIP
Actually, I just found a ton of drawings for different Shay locomotives, including ones of the Roaring camp Shays, heisler, and Climax. I may put up a thread to see what everyone wants as far as a geared locomotive.

Re: My 3DC locomotives in 3' NG
Yeah, I do know the extension tubes your talmking about. Shay #5 is not equipped with these tubes. It uses a system more like on #2 in this video I took personally: http://s28.photobucket.com/albums/c243/ZapperJet/?action=view¤t=valvereference.flv If you download my latest beta I have all ...

Re: My 3DC locomotives in 3' NG
Now THAT is something I have been looking for! Wouldn't mind sending me your smoke recipe? I want to see if I can't implement that on the Cass 5 Shay!
