I'm dying to get my hands on this...

This has got to be the most wonderful little 0-4-0 I've seen on the net.
Any idea when I/we can expect it?

I'm *hoping* to get it out by Christmas, but we'll see :)
I still have a fair amount of texturing to do (mainly the cab interior and the wheels), as well as some animation and LODs. On a positive note, the supporting infrastructure is largely completed - trestles, track, fills, an enginehouse, and a couple of cars (since there isn't much 30" gauge stuff on the DLS).

Good news, great! Keep up the wonderful work. And, you're right, not much 30" stuff out there... I am thankful for what there is in all narrow gauges, though.

Were there any plans to make it into a 3 foot gauge?

Thanks,
Rick

No plans to make a 3' version, though with Narrowguage's permission (as it's an edit of one of his locomotives; which does come in 3' gauge), I'll post the mesh so others can edit it.
The original locomotive is here: http://www.trainzone.co.nz/steam.htm#MERCED%204-4-0

Here's a WiP of the cab....

Beautiful! Great job... :D What I like is the 'squarish' cab. It was mostly wood back then. The true Porter style...
I scratch built one in HOn3 from the pics in the NG&SLG back a number of years ago.
Unfortunately, I lost the first 20 years of that mag in the fire.

Thanks for the link, although I do have most everything there, I do recommend the others visit this site and get what you want while the gettin's good. LOL

Here's an updated picture - the texture is pretty much completed now, as well as the medium LoDs. Still have some animation and low LoDs to do, plus the inevitable cleanup...

Just can't stop with the teasers :P

A shot of the animated water hatch - it opens when taking on water:

And two shots illustrating the animated fuel level. 1st shot is running low, and the 2nd is after reloading at a wood yard:

I'm hoping to finish everything up this weekend - any takers for testing it (and the accompanying pieces-parts)?

Pencil,
Looks veeeerrrry nice!

I'm happy to help you test it out.
I'm mainly using TRS2006 SP1 but still have '04 loaded.

Working Saturday and Sunday (...someone's gotta keep the weekend trains rollin'...) but I'm off duty on Monday and Tuesday so I'll have time to give it a work out and get the feedback to you.

Cheers,

OMG! Count me in! My hand is up. :D See it?
I would love to test this little jewel. I've got about 100 coal jimmys just sittin' idle.

Speaking of ore cars, I got random textures working on these. I hope to have something to you two later this weekend.

random textures? You mean you have a way to use random texturing popping in every time you place one? Or, are you just tryin' to keep me from re-skinnin' 'em...

Looking pretty darn good as they are, bud. :D Real sweet job. :)

I'd like to use 'em for sand and rock or ballast but not coal. They're too 'dusty' looking for ore. I like 'em. :P

That engine and those cars would be great for a Disneyland Layout I'm working on! Can I try it out?
