Scripting Issue Needs Fixin' -- Fixed It !!

Post by Col Hogan »

Gentlemwn
I have a 30ng caboose (a shortened combine) that has a wealth of benefits which includes working doors with sound. However, the doors do not work - hehehe.

I have a need of a person with some scripting background that knows about moving parts and sounds. Perhaps a little. Two of us are working on Sandy River content and would need a scripting guru.

Would there be someone who could tackle this on an on-going basis ?
Perhaps through the Summer.
PM me if necessary and I'll further the details to you.

Have you looked at Curtis' boxcars and my re-skins of the same? I had to modify it to get my re-skins to work. Compare the two.
I don't know enough to help, though.

Caboose with Benefits

Post by Col Hogan »

Rick, I have just learned something bud, but maybe it's because Norm had already added the meshes. I took your idea (tried & true) and applied it to the caboose and with all the items in place from Norm, the caboose worked well with the mail product. The picture below proved it ! ! ! !

The sound works, both doors open and mail is loaded properly. I'm so excited. Now the plan is to clean up the config, add the green version, send it to TPR and TrainZone. If any of you want a copy, I'll be happy to send the folder version and you may load it manually. Ask for the CDP and ye shall get it.

Next one in line is the shortened coach. 8-window version, unlettered, clerestory roof, passenger-enabled. 30ng of course.
Curtis has started someting here and now it's in my blood. We HAVE to have a complete roster and be the envy of the 'hood.

Can I get an 'AMEN' on that ?

That's a nice looking caboose! Congratulations on getting the cargo loading to work properly!
The smoke looks a bit heavy to me, though - what do you think?

Thankyou for the compliments, guys. They are always nice to hear.

I'm still tweaking the smoke. Most everything else has such a lite smoke look and I decided to have some fun and make it a real wood-burner. I can tone it down a bit if it's too much.

One thing I have just noticed since I made another kinda-odd addition.
Let me see if I can say this just right - The caboose has two .gs files - one for doors and one for the marker lamps. When I ran it once to get the photo, the doors and sound files worked great. The config files are set just right.
NOW, I added the script for the marker lamps in the config files and now the lamps do not appear when the loco is added in front.
Here is what it looks like :

The part in RED is what I'm asking about. Is this a normal entry to make sure two things work properly in the config file??
OR should they be incorporated into one .gs file separately ?

He he, 'kidneys'. LOLOLOL

Great!!!

It feels really good when a plan comes together, huh? (Believe, I know.)

:D

P.S. I like smoke, lots of it... :P

P.P.S.S. Have you tried to combine the two gs files into one?

As far as I know, you can only have one .gs file; so it would be best if you combined them into one.

Thanks all. I have eliminated the files from the caboose and will submit it "as is" at TPR and Sir Gibby's in the next day or so.
I also have this question at TPR to see if someone there can help out.
Any script guru's out there ?

What do you need? Someone to combine the scripts?
That shouldn't be too hard; if you shoot them my way I can probably do it for you.

Thankyou Curtis. Yes, that is what would be needed. I'm at the office now, but will send you the file later this afternoon.
