Building a Depot

Post by Mrail »

I decided to try another project in gmax, so now im building a depot. I don't have time to add pictures tonight, but I will asap.

I also have a question about working with gmax. If I want to make a face visable from both sides, how would I do that?

Don't know about Gmax but, I build a 3 dimensional wall then delete all the faces that won't show.

Copy your material. Then, in the material editor, check the '2-Sided' box under Shader Basic Parameters. Apply this modified material to all the places you want double-sided planes.

The 2 sided texture Curtis mentioned does work, but it does have a problem. The lighting is the same on both sides.
I make everything I want to do this to (generally cab glass) as one piece by attaching the various bits. Then I clone it and flip the normals on the clone. That fixes the lighting.
Cheers,
Ben

Just another update: I have the model mostly done, but have a lot to tweak to get it to look right in trainz.
