Smoke replacement

I've posted in a couple of places to see if anyone has any suggestions.
Does anyone have any ideas as to how to replace the smoke color, similar to texture replacement for a load? I've built a side dump ore car that hauls coal, ore, or anything else you set in the properties and would like to have the dust match the load color. I suppose it would be possible to have a number of different smokes with different attachment points, then have the script check which load and call the appropriate attachment point.

Hopefully, there's an easier way, as I'm not a scripter and it would be hit and miss to get it right.
