Hello Everyone.
Hello Colin & Curtis: I had no trouble in registerring for site.

A few words about myself...

Always been interested in Model railways but it takes huge amounts of time/money/effort to reach an acceptable standard.
Plus: the period I'm most interested in: Pre 1865 Early Railways means everything has to be scratchbuilt. That's why I've been an armchair modeller for nearly 40 years.

When I first found out about Virtual Modelling; I could see a chance to build the kind of 'layout' that I'd only ever dreamed about...and put my own 'personal stamp' on it.

Unfortunately;I'm not into GMax or any other software application...so all my Loco's/Stock/and most of the Structures are custom built to my design and instructions...
You could argue this is an expensive way to do things but it keeps me out the pubs and I suppose in a way it's 'historically accurate' in that I'm tendering orders of Stock to an outside contractor!

You can see some of the stuff I've had made on Paulz Trainz site( do a Google search)..Mines is the NBR..'1850 range).

My other interests are movies, (Type 'meconicuk' into the Youtube.com searchbar and click on 'DIXIELAND') military history, and photography(which comes in handy for taking photo's of industrial/railway related structures).

I've always liked the American 4-4-0 design and recently got hold of
'White's'..American Locomotive 1830 - 1880...as I want a Hybrid version of the 4-4-0 'Gasconade' Loco in time for Xmas.
I'm a member of the Yahoo Groups ...
B&Ohio Group(though it's mostly all modern stuff they cover).
Civil War railroads Group( very useful for many things).

I'll try and post some images to the gallery once I work out how it works.
I hope I can contribute to the Carson Car Shops site as it looks to be a great project and deserves to succeed.

Welcome! Do you have a photo of the Gasconade 4-4-0 you mentioned? If it is anything like the V&T 4-4-0s, I could make a model of it without too much hassle.
Cheers,
Ben

Offfer to make 'Gasconade' 4-4-0

Post by meconicuk »

Hello Ben(?)

Thanks for your generous offer re' 'Gasconade'.
I've sent you Private Mail to ask some further questions.

I certainly think the Loco looks worth the effort to model
it.
Mac.

Hi Ben.

Well, trying to send anything over 10Mb to YahooMail doesn't want to work.

That's why I recently opened a GoogleMail account. Their limit is a 20Mb attachment;plus they don't seem to have as much pornography spam that Yahoo seem to get.(this is in spite of useing their Spam Filter).

I'll send the details of Gasconade sometime this week and you can let me know if it's a viable proposition to construct.
Mac.
