Animated stub switch proof-of-concept
I say keep the current levels of rust. I'd use em'! Lets see...
My uses of the rails with different levels of rust:
level one (clean rail) uhhhhh.. I don't think I would use it, LOL.
Level two(light rust): mainline.
Level Three (medium rust): spurs/disused sections.
Level four: long abandoned rail lines (I'll have to do a series of junk cars to match)
As you might have guessed I like rust on my rails, not to mention the rolling stock.
Thanks Custis!

Yeah Sam! I'm with you, all the way! Now you're talking my kind of RR.Trainzsam wrote:I was thinking of using the one on the far right for disconnected spurs that weere abandoned years earlier, where the rail was so old it wasn't even worth pulling up for scrap. I have another idea, how about some ballast and ties but no rail? Set up as a trackspline of course. Just for those old abandoned lines.
Sam
Curtis, I think you're doing a mighty fine job. Everything you put out is number one in my book.
Question; Can this track be used in '04 less the animated switches? I'd sure like to use some of that track.
How about the proverbial oily greasy tie stains right down the center between the rails.

Re: Animated stub switch proof-of-concept
1st batch of track is en route to the DLS. It should show up later this week or next week some time.
Final pics: I have tan and grey ballast textures ready to go; I just need to copy & update all the versions....

Re: Animated stub switch proof-of-concept
The tracks are on the DLS, and here are the stub switches to go with them.
http://www.carsoncarshops.com/files/stub_switches.cdp
They will show up in the objects menu, under 'turnout stub....'
They only work in '06 or later. In the properties menu in surveyor, you can change the side the switch lever is on, as well as the track texture on both the mainline and the turnout track to match the 4 versions of track above.
Let me know if they work for you, and if there is anything you'd like changed / added!

Waaaaaaa...They only work in '06 or later.
I got just the place for that track, though.
Oops, it's all standard gauge. I was looking for 30"...
Thanks,
Rick

Re: Animated stub switch proof-of-concept
With all this talk about stub switches when I saw this picture I just had to share it: http://vilda.alaska.edu/cdm4/item_viewe ... EIGHT=2000 Look at the lower left hand corner. Its a single point stub!
Sam
EDIT: Well, on second though, its not a stub, but still very interesting... and primitive!

Re: Animated stub switch proof-of-concept
The left and right hand stub switches are now (finally) on the DLS. The 3-way will likely wait for '09 - I never could get it to work well in previous versions
edit: it appears the textures are not currently downloadable from the DLS - until this gets fixed, you can get them from here:

The textures are there, but are not downloadable. CMP gives an 'unknown error', and using FTP gives an 'file not found' error.
