North Tahoe Narrow Gauge
Re: North Tahoe Narrow Gauge
The P&W (and W&P) is a fun little shortline. I really like their older 4-axle diesels. The fact that the locos are individually named doesn't hurt, either

WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
Very happy about this, hoping this can be complete by the start of school.

It is getting there!

Re: North Tahoe Narrow Gauge
Work on an SPNG caboose.

Playing around with my Baldwin 8-22Cs...I would say it's a lot of fun, but it's not. The train was only going 5mph-9mph the whole way up Rollins.
Re: North Tahoe Narrow Gauge
That's really coming along; nice work!!
Re: North Tahoe Narrow Gauge
Thanks! I sent a version to Andrew to see what he thought of it today; he's apparently got the spec mostly done. Once he and I finalize the proper credits, I'll upload all the cabs to the DLS, if all goes to plan. I'm sure some narrow-gauge cabs will come in useful, even without a brake stand.

I agree; they are looking fantastic! and I am also eagerly awaiting release.
As for the speed 9MPH might be close to prototypical. I recently read that freight trains on the V&T (C&C parent company) were limited to 12MPH!

9mph might be prototypical, just not particularly fun.
Besides, these should probably be just a little more powerful. If it's accurate, then Andrew's 8-18C spec would be overpowered! XD
Either way, they should be pretty close. Ben Metzger, the site administrator at Trainz Forge, has been in touch over setting up a new section for them. I have yet to finalize the credits, but once that's done, the 8-22C cabs can go to the DLS. I might upload the trucks from the loco and tender as well - they're standard Baldwin designs and should be fairly useful. The rest will be coming in time.

I seem to remember White in his freight car book saying freight trains in general tended to average about 10mph in the 19th century (with exceptions for express cargo, like fruit or tea).
It has been fun following this project - you've done a lot of work on it, and it is looking very nice!

Re: North Tahoe Narrow Gauge
No problem.
Further work, this time a little closer to home:

Andrew is drawing up new tender lining so that will be great...I took a lot of pieces from my C&C locos, including tender trucks, cab controls, headlight bracket, drivers and rods, et cetera. It took me about ten minutes to add huge details and two days to update everything else, mostly rebuilding the textures from scratch. I particularly like the build plate...
