Shadow question

Well I'm working on getting the Vulcan and ALCo saddle tankers finished up and I have a quick question for anyone who wants to answer. What do you prefer, 3d shadows (standard Auran style) or the pool of black shadows (4-4-0s, 8-16Ds)?

I don't really mind which one, they both look nice.

I don't have that option activated because so many assets don't have 'em so I don't care one way or the other.

Ben
If you can explain which one has certain properties, I might have an option for you.
For example, does either shadow shift with the sunlight or stay in the same place during the sunset hours? You know - straight up.
Does one shadow have more poly structure than the other?
Any clues to help with the answer??

I had hoped the names I used would get the idea across.
The 3D shadow is what most things come with. It will shift and follow terrain. However, it impacts performance and doesn't cast a shadow on the track.
The pool of darkness shadow is just a plane with a pool of black on it. It won't shift to follow terrain or sunlight, but it will shadow the track.

Thankyou Ben
I had no idea how either of them were worked.
My choice would be the pool of darkness method. I prefer to not have the performance affected.
Thankyou

Wow, Ben - good question. I see the benefits of each, but I think I'll lean toward the pool of shadow under the loco. It just doesn't look right imho when the track doesn't show the normal shadows....
