Well, maybe a little experience is all.
Those windows are exactly 1 foot square and designed to keep your rotten hide inside.
That's the outside dimensions, btw.
Now, subtract the steel surrounding the bars and you get just enough air and light to keep your stinkin' hide alive.
You want bigger windows? Check into the Ritz...
I like that idea, Ken, about the brick.

Minor update here...
Resized the windows to 18", added roof support poles, and changed the roof texture while experimenting with alpha masking channels. LOLOLOL
It still ain't no Holiday Inn, though...
Wadda ya think?

I'm probably talking out the south end of a northbound horse, but I think the roof support poles should be running the other way, (short way), less deflection, spaced no more than 4 foot on center. The front wall, window side, might be a foot or so higher, more like a false front?

Got tired of raking the lawn.

The cells are 4x6 meaning that there is a wall every 4 foot. (3 inner walls)
There is a 4 foot wide walkthrough from that front door straight through to the back door.
I could put a pole centered above each window supporting the ceiling above each cell.
It would also help support the walkthrough.
Great idea ol' king of kitbashing.
(I hate yard work.)

OK, folks, here's a real close final model.
I gotta figure out how to round the corners and apply some brick work.
I like 'bigger' poles, too.
Polys come in at 316, btw.
Thanks fellas,

Just poking around on the 3dc site; what about extruding one of the walls, and setting the bevel amount to a non-zero number? If you did that to all 4 walls, would that round the corners?

It also looks like there is a smooth operation; perhaps that might also help?

He he, you beat me to it. I've had to update my, The Saloon. Norm mentioned it and some guy at Auran did, too. I've been busy getting that update out. Sent one to the DLS and the DLD, also.
I made some very minor changes to The Saloon so get on over to my site for the latest update, guys.
I'll have to try that, Curtis. Thanks for the link.

No, Norm, I lost everything in the fire. I'm living in a temporary apt. with the bare minimum.
I'll try to find it online, though.
Hey, about requests. I'll do my best but let's try to do models that aren't out there already or are not a very good model to begin with or completely different. Unique so to speak.
Like my Barber Shop, it has no barber pole as the other one does.
And, my Saloon, it has two stories, one for the 'girls'.
Then there's the Jail, taken from Internet photos to depict a bare minimum facility.
Got the idea?
Rich made a pretty good sawmill but can I add 'parts' from this mill you want me to look at that can be added to Rich's?
Got the idea?
I don't want to be a copy cat.
That said, let me go try to find Walther's model in Z.
Thanks for all the help you've given, guys...
EDIT: Didn't find the one you were refering to. Sorry, got no clue what you're looking for.

Got your new stuff Rick. Thanks a lot for having this insight to make "old stuff". I love it.
It would amaze you how hard it is to find good pictures of an old sawmill building. I have gone to Google and tried to think of every scenario to come up with a link to sawmill buildings. Not so easy.
Rich Blake says his structures are mostly from the Walthers models in the catalog and perhaps he's even bought a few. When you're ready to do rolling stock, I have a Old Time Derrick Car and an Old Time Blacksmiths car. Two plastic models still in the box, HO gauge. I'm working on a collection.
Anyway, once I find an old building picture worthy of your expertise, I'll send it to you.

Oops, bad joke. Didn't even get off the ground.
I've got those two cars also, Ken. Sometime I'd like to try the old tannery buildings that were down in Tioga. I've only got one picture, so I built a mock-up in cardstock, mostly by guess. Needs more outbuildings, but I don't have the details. Peter's pulpwood cars make decent bark cars. One of these days, I've got to get down there and measure and photograph the last remaining tobacco barn before it's torn down.
