Just thought I'd share my latest endeavours with all of you. It still has a way to go, yet.

Comments, suggestions, and criticisms are welcomed. Especially since I'm still learning...
Personally, I think it has come into the game too dark.

:D

P.S. What ever happened to Lamp Post Linda? I was gonna use her in this post...

It's coming along nicely :)
Yeah, you might want to lighten the texture a bit (or is that the side away from the sun?)

A little bit of both. The ambient setting is recommended at 50 by most folks but I found that to be far too light. Here it is again at 35 from 25 and facing the sun this time and permanently placed on my route. LOL
This looks much better to me.

OK, folks, here's the final version. I have a couple of things I want to do to the back and that is where the 'surprises' I promised you are.

Image

I'll release the 'surprises' on their own but first I want to show them off.
I'll post the front and back views in a bit... Meanwhile, I couldn't resist this shot...

Have fun!

Are the people there by attachment point, or added in surveyor? Those shady ladies on the balcony would be a good addition.

He he... I put 'em there for the fun of it in Surveyor.

Here's the front and back views,

I thought I'd release it as is.
The 30 gallon barrel and 4x4 pallet are from MSTS... Surprise!
I also have a 50 gallon barrel. They're made from plans I found on the net from a Cooper, btw.

Any comments, good or bad, from you guys?
What about that main building trim? I'm having trouble with it. Not sure I like it.
What do you think?

Made these changes and released it...

Image

WARNING: Polys = 1088.

It's at all the usual places...

Have fun!

The trim looks just fine to me.
I like the barrel and pallets, as well. Out of curiosity, do you know when they started to use pallets? I was trying to figure that out some time ago, but without any luck.
1088 pollies for the barrel, eh? Sounds like a good asset to practice LOD on :)

He he, here's my first re-re-skin.

Did you read it that way? The barrel(s) have 288, the whole asset has 1088.
Let me change that.

No I don't know when they started using pallets. I tried researching that, too way back when I started making 'em.
Technically, they had to go through a transitional period for when they stopped putting everything in barrels. Don't you think? Makes sense, anyway.

I REALLY like those barrels. Got 'em. I still think you need some hussies up on the balconey. I sent you lamp post linda, but she's still out there in cyberspace.
How do you know how much to degrade the mesh using LOD? Guess it's kinda look and see.

To be perfectly honest, I haven't got a clue what LOD is other then it standing for, Level Of Detail.
Don't know how to apply it...
Don't know how to use it...
Don't know squat about it.
