I understand the need to make sure about getting the windows figgerd out.
Would a suggestion be that on this piece there would be none ?
The opening there is plenty big enough for this (MOW) rolling stock.

I think she's starting to take on a little character, now...

It gets pretty cold in them thar hills, Ken. We've already cut down all the trees in the Mohave forest. Windows are good for ventilation when that fire is raging hot...

It really is beginning to look like something. May I offer a slight bit of inspiration...somewhere inside, place an attachment point on the floor and upon it, use the following kuid <45676:135002:1> .
Surprise yourself with a little gift. Norm used this in our caboose and the coach and I love it. Try it.

He he, I thought the title of this thread was self explanatory, also but, for those that aren't really paying that much attention, I'm building my first series of rolling stock in three foot narrow gauge, (my favorite gauge, btw.)

I'm not quite sure what <45676:135002:1> is all about... Trade mark maybe? If it's his trade mark, I'll let him use it.

Being an old HO gauge model builder, I'm doing my best to try and make my virtual models look as real as they can be.
Those doors need a little adjusting but I like 'em, too. Thanks, Sam, and everybody else, also.

Minor update...
I guess you may all know by now, or at least by this pic, that it will be a Blacksmith's Car.
The furnace was rather fun to install. I couldn't use bricks because of the mobility on the rails so it had to be built of 'steel'.

That's a nice lookin' forge. The IHC car I have did have a brick hearth. You're gettin' there.

And I personally like the bi-fold doors and the end-board near the coupler that has a large crack on the left. Pretty slick.

OK, folks, I need a little input from you guys, now.
I can detail the inside of this thing until the cows come home causing the polys to raise. All surfaces that aren't seen have been deleted as it is.
Question is, how much detail does it really need? How far should I go with it?
I could turn it into a show piece but is it really necessary?

Alright, since you asked. I have one idea - out near the barrel you could put a small crane that is used in case the load is too heavy to pick up.
Also could be used to lift heavier boxes of equipment. Looks a lot like a thee-legged type and one you used on your USA Yesterday route.

Lots of detail on that would be great, since there probably wouldnt be more than one in the same place. If a lot of the stuff on the walls was just done as textures, or atleast done that way in a lod I dont think it would be too bad. Basicly aslong as it doesnt make my computer crash :roll: , detail it a lot.

I agree - what would it look like if you used the walls with the tools as inside textures?
Using LOD is another way to increase detail close up, but not impact framerates when you can't see the detail anyway.
