New Sound Effects

I guess you could say I've been busy. Thanks again to Norm for helping
out with the file set-up since I got so darned confused. All I had to do was
switch a few things around and establish a standard folder. Of course Norm
did that for me. hehehehe Thanks for that.

Anyway, what I have done is create four sound FX from the ton of files I
have from the internet. Free, royalty-free SFX that can be used anywhere.
They are as follows :

Small Dogs Barking
Medium Dogs Barking
Power Lawnmower
The Swamp

They have been uploaded to TPR Download Depot and should be
ready soon. I will aslo send them to DLS for the whole crowd just so I can
add to my short list of assets.
There wll be more to come as well with the SFX as I want to have a few
weather-related versions with wind and thunder. Many will have the stereo
effect once I re-master some of the sounds. Hope you enjoy.

8) I'm here again about the new sound FX files I'm working on.
Currently, Rick has graciously allowed me to add a sound to one of his 30gal barrels.
It was a tough search but I found an Auctioneer at a Horse auction and it lasts for
about 60secs. The CDP is finished and I'm waiting for Download Depot to open back up.
I think it's down now.

One more thing, I do have two additional sounds coming in and they are
Long and Easy Thunder 8.25MB
Thunderstorm and Strong Winds 17.2MB

These two are ready for upload and have been re-mastered and are pretty heavy
sound files. I am also taking special requests for any type of sound you would like
to have on the Trainz boards. I've begun to specialize in more of the Horror,
Halloween and Drama sounds and effects. However, I have multiple sounds
in many other areas you may like.

All these will also go to DLS as I have four waiting to be approved as well.

Ken,
Just to make sure, are you going to put these SFX assets on the DLS? Can't find them there as of yet. If so, I'll use them, if not I can't. My route is supposed to be 100% DLS friendly.

I'm looking for bird sounds that I can use around trees and meadows. You know, with multiple kinds of birds singing and 'playing' together.

I'm also surprised at the fact that you're using .mp3 sound files. I didn't know these were acceptable in Trainz.
I haven't tested anything as of yet but plan to shortly. I like the crickets & bullfrogs. Got just the place for that one.

EDIT:
After testing, I've found this wonderful sound to be way too loud and the range is far too far. I can hear it for miles all over my route. Would you mind if I modified this SFX of yours, added it to a rock and, made it special for my route? Of course, I'd also need to release it as such, too.

Thanks,

Hey Rick
The first SFX were the ones B4 I made your Auctioneer Barrel. That particular one has not made
it to DLS, however I can make sure it does. When those were released on DLS it took 2 solid
weeks before it made it up stream. I'll make a few more uploads but I really am thinking twice
about it anymore. Takes so long.

The reason for the MP3's is that some of the sounds are looped at about 2-4minutes and that's
a lot of FX and as a WAV file it came out to be something over 5MB and others were even more.
The MP3 was an experiment and it worked mostly because the file was so much smaller.
I was surprised myself that it took.

The distances have me perplexed. In the config file I have them distanced down to a few meters
and they still carry to the end of the board. I'm not happy with that topic. many short
experiments did not fair well. SO, if you need to make an adjustment and it works for you,
I'm happy. For the purpose of the upload, it was beneficial to have the MP3's since at least through
TPR DD it would not reject it. In my future, of the file is larger than 5-7 MB, then I shall
consider making them MP3's.

Feel free to make any adjustments you see fit. Anyone and everyone may do so as well.
I'll be happy to make a special one for you with many types of birds and tone them down if possible.
Perhaps if I keep them looped at about a 1 minute interval, they may not be quite so big.
And therefore using the WAV's will be more suitable.

Thankyou for noticing and letting me know. I was a bit worried about the effects of the distance.

OK, great! Let me play around with this one and I'll get back to you with my findings for future reference if my ideas pan out. I've got the CCG open to page 105.
I really like this crickets & bullfrogs SFX. It just needs a little work, IMO...

Ya, if you would, throw together a 'birds' one for me. Let's see how that goes... Didn't slugsmasher do some forest bird sounds? Did you look at his files?

Thanks,
:D

Glad you like it. I'm not quite sure about Rich's SFX, but I can do some checking.
I'll mess around with the new birds tomorrow, got the day off.
