Does your PC meet the min. specs of KRS?

Post by thegrindre »

I've been waiting for this sim to come out BUT I think I have a small problem. How about you?

I've got a 256mb vid card, 360gig hard drive, 2gigs of ram BUT only a 2.4Ghz AMD chip.
I'm a little concerned...

Here's a link

I think you'll be fine, especially if you have one of the newer AMD parts. I'd also expect the Intel Core2 parts at 2GHz or above to be sufficient, as I think they are roughly equivalent to a P4 at 3 GHz.
And yes, my system should be fine for KRS, although to be honest, I'll probably wait a while and see how it's recieved before I go and buy it. Now MSTS2 - that one looks interesting :)

I am also looking at MSTS2. I've come from MSTS to trainz a few months ago, anyway.

Well, I'm going to have to eat crow and say that since this sim was such a botched up crappy job, I'm going the duration and waiting for MSTSx, now. Meanwhile, it's TRS'04 for me...

Have you read the bug report thread? Sheesh!

Yep, give it some time before you give up on it. Wait a couple of weeks & see what people are saying then. There may be a quick patch to fix some of these issues; and some may not turn out to be so bad after all.

Believe it or not, I have just received some inside information about this sim that looks like it just might straighten itself out in the long run. (A 4 am call this morning, btw.) It may take a few weeks or so but things are looking up.
I'm afraid I can't reveal my sources or the information I've received but as Pencil as said, don't give up on this sim just yet.
(As we say in the south, "hide n watch.") :D

Enjoy...

Mine exceeds the minimum specs, with flying color! Have a 2.4Ghz Core 2, 2GB memory, 640mb Geforce 8800GTS, 150 gig hard drive. But TRS got some really good stuff, and has an easy to use editor, and looking at the KRS pics, the graphics really aren't that much better than TC(or TRS2004, for that matter), so I'll pass on KRS. If it has backwards compatibility with MSTS engines, etc, then maybe we'll talk!

Well, I've been reading that they're working on the U.S. version but, from that error thread I've read, I think I'll wait for MSTSx later this year and deal with all the problems it has to offer. Being that I'm an ex-MSTS guy anyway, I believe it'll be the better sim in the long run, IMHO.

Oh, ya, mine does too after my fire. I have a duo core 2 clocked at 4.33 with the same card as you do and 4 gigs ram with a 250 gig HD. We're pretty close to each other, now. I've got a 24" flat screen, too. How big's yours? (I liked my old CRT MUCH better, though.) :D

Mine, I think is a 17" flat screen, but I'm about to replace it with a 20" one.

You may be the only one! I feel those CRT things are big, clunky and are only capable of taking up space! :P I like the LCD's because they are slim, have the best picture quality, and not to mention that thing they do when you touch them!

You're gonna like that 20 incher. If you can save a little longer, go for a 22". You won't be sorry. :D My old CRT was a 22" and I was amazed.

(I'm not gonna argue why a CRT is MUCH better than a LCD... I want to keep it friendly around here...   )

Have fun,

I've had to work in front of one of them CRT monitors in a class I once had. Never really saw much value in them things, but then again, I didn't really care about people looking from the side! Maybe you like things big and clunky! :)

Big and clunky has nothing to do with it's operation, so to speak... Remember, beauty is only skin deep.

I was interested in MSTS 2 as well as TrainMaster Train Simulator, but this... well I'll probably stick with Trainz! As I've said, if KRS would offer backward compatibility with MSTS, maybe I'd be interested in it... maybe! Sometimes I wish Auran had beaten Raildriver to the MSTS content license! :P
