Re: Hey, Ben or someone that can help.

Take the diameter in inches. Multiply by 3.14. Multiply by 2.54. Divide by 100. Change the animdist tag to match your maths. Let me know who made the bogey so I can point and laugh (especially if it is my own bogey).

Re: Coming soon - misc stuffz

I like the irrigation channels. Any possibility of a meandering creek set up in a similar manner? That way it could have eroded banks (I probably have a picture of that if you need it). I'm also sure those yard buildings will get use somewhere on many of my keep-for-two-months-then-delete-and-start-...

I shall nitpick:
It looks like you have two too many 4-4-0s on that route. Also, the bit of track next to the shop does not exist. Also, it might be an illusion, but the mountain looks like it is too far from the tracks in shot #6.

Thoughts / comments? Would this be usefull, or just needless complexity? I think it is brilliant! Almost enough to make me reinstall '06 (almost). I would like a different color of ballast, but I'm not sure what would be good. I'd say a slightly brownish grey. Grass covered ballast wouldn't hurt, e...

Sam, Yes I got the email but forgot to take care of it. I'm working on a big essay at the moment so I might not get it packed up and emailed to you before the weekend. Pencil, Thanks. Like I said, the SP painted their boilers green, and I was hoping the TN&O did as well. Oh well, it'll still loo...

TN&O 4-4-0 question

Does anyone know if the TN&O painted the boiler jackets on their 4-4-0s green at any time between the 1930s and 1950s? I know the SP painted the boiler jackets green on a lot of their bigger steamers (4-6-2s, 4-8-2s), but what about the TN&O?

I suggest finding a way to make them look right while dark gray with a hint of red (there's your coloring hint). I've never seen white couplers of any kind. Always black or rusty gray.

No, stub switches and harp stands are backwards from what you think. When the target moves to the right, the points move to the left.

Curtis, I would suggest making the target vertical for the straight route. That seems the most logical and least confusing option to me.

The cream is correct. I've seen some buildings that look like adobe in a similar red, but they are actually eroded brick.

You oughta make the soot on the floor black. My experience with blacksmith shops is that everything gets coated in black soot.
Tarpaper is sold in smaller sheets that what you have there. I suggest adding some seam lines to the roof, to add some more interest.

Make sure to open up the top of the small barrel in the shed and fill it with water. Required for something (tempering, maybe?). The tools hanging from the wall could easily be done with a texture, most of these things are less than 1 inch thick. For railroad purposes, you probably won't need the gr...

The 2 sided texture Curtis mentioned does work, but it does have a problem. The lighting is the same on both sides.
I make everything I want to do this to (generally cab glass) as one piece by attaching the various bits. Then I clone it and flip the normals on the clone. That fixes the lighting.

Funny you should mention a Tannery. The pulpwood racks that Pencil set up for the NCNG flat are similar to those of the Tionesta Valley RR. The TV used the flats to haul chemical wood, which I believe they used for Tanneries.

Its been a while, but as I recall the process was: Export the mesh with the MS FS9 exporter. Use a program called MDLCommander to save the file as a .x (done automatically). Open the .x in 3d Canvas. All textures, bones, animations will still be intact. This process is described better here . One un...
