In 'retaliation' to Curtis' Hotel...

Post by thegrindre »

Curtis stated that this Hotel was a square box with textures on it which, impressed me immensely so, for the fun of it, I thought I'd try the same thing with a train car.

This is my version of a box with textures on it.
It was quite a challenge and I even learned a bit more about texturing while building it. Oh, the toolbox is also a box with textures on it.
It's still a WIP but I thought I'd share my progress so far.
I got my idea from this site;

(He he, I don't know how to make that link smaller and still get you there.)

Over all, I thought I did a pretty good job. What do you think? Nothing like a little 'challenge', huh?

Comments, suggestions, and criticisms are welcomed.

Boy oh boy, I wish I could texure like that, maybe someday! I feel like I can almost reach out and snatch it out of the screen... Just like in Wonka Vision!

Nice job, Rick!
And my hotel is a little more than a box - for example, the corner facing the camera is rounded; and the overhang at the top does stick out :)
I can see we're going to have to keep this competition up - maybe I'll even finish that city block one of these days...

I understand, Curtis, and my stirrups and grab irons are 3D, also. LOL BUT, the overall concept is just a 'box'.
I did mine with Paint.NET, btw.

Thanks for the compliments.

Hi all,
I screwed up and inadvertently uploaded the wrong Sand Car. :roll:
The proper car should have a clean-out shovel on the top of the box, a small sledge hammer by the toolbox and, the whole car should be covered with sand.

Like this;

Sorry 'bout that. :oops: The corrected car can be found here;

I suggest you delete any other versions you have because I didn't change the kuid and you may get a duplicate error message.

Have fun,
Rick
