I might let this one go as is. Polys are 2040;
OK, I did decide to release it and it can be found in all the usual places.

Sam,
Here's a low poly, 304, basic engine shed to fit your engine. I made it small, 16' by 35', with just enough room for the mechanics to work on it when it needs fixin'.
Questions:
Is this the siding you want on it?
Is this the roof you want on it?
Do you want to texture it yourself? I'll put the textures on properly so you can if you want to change it later. I'll make it a skinner's delight.
Do you want a couple of old windows and door? I'll texture those on, too. I usually put 3D window frames and doors on them but it raises the polys up dramatically.
Let me know what you want me to add if you want anything else.
He he, this is my first low poly building.

OK, gotcha. I like your idea about the door and window thing.
You want a coupe of swinging doors on the front, huh? Okie dokie. I'll use the doors from the Blacksmith Car.

Polys =256
I don't know how to do invisible glass, yet so the windows are solid for now.
Isn't that just a black on white texture and all black is invisible or something like that, then write it up in the config file somehow?

I downloaded it and it looks just great, thanks again Rick! Ya know, you should come up with your own set of "enginehouse and logging Junk," just the stuff you would find lying around the back of an enginehouse or a logging area. For example, old rusty cable (made as a spline) old donkey engine boiler, etc., etc. Just a thought.

By-the-way, I dunno about the glass, Pencil would know though.

OK, if you're happy, I'll release it to everybody. I may even release a high poly version with lots of detail on it... dunno just now.

That looks good. Now my big engines dont have to sit outside either .
I like that idea. I might do some of that myself. It always bothers me how empty/tidy evrything always looks in trainz.you should come up with your own set of "enginehouse and logging Junk," just the stuff you would find lying around the back of an enginehouse or a logging area. The way we can do it in gmax is take the glass texture I sent you a while back as the diffuse texture then add the same texture as the opacity texture. That will give you a slightly frosted see-thru window. Gmax takes care of writing the texture.txt filethegrindre wrote: I don't know how to do invisible glass, yet so the windows are solid for now.

Ya, something I'm going to have to play around with sometime...
Thanks,

Go for it, Mrail... I never liked the 'clean' 'tidy' look either but it's the polys that kill us in this game.Mrail wrote:That looks good. Now my big engines dont have to sit outside either .

I've started building some junk and already I have sixo or seven different things. I though I might as well give it a shot. I think I'll start a new thread for it.

Thought I'd take a little break from train car building and put out a bail of hay with tightly strung wire around it and another barrel.
There is quite a few bails of hay out there, although none with wire around them that I've found and, a lot of barrels, too.
Not sure anybody would be all that interested but if you are, I'll release 'em.

I could go with the smaller 20 gallon barrel instead.

I like the barrels at 30 or 50gal size. Looks real good.
This current one now looks even better than the previous ones and since
you have done this I have a query for ya -
I'm working on some sound FX and wondered if I could use a barrel
of yours to place a sound FX in-game ?
Check TPR and DLS for my current entries.

I like the idea of using a barrel for sound.
I guess I could put out all three sizes, too...
Hep ur sef.
EDIT:
How's this. Here's all three sizes, 55 gals, 30 gals, and 20 gals;
I'll get 'em up ASAP...
