Playing with Blender
Re: Playing with Blender
A fill spline w/ wall; here shown on Rollins Pass NG (Thanks, Norm!!):
Instead of the track with various fill splines attached (like the old NG30 series), I'm doing separate splines to better mix and match w/o creating a *bunch* of new track.Re: Playing with Blender
SWEET!
This is the thing I missed most from the old 30 inch track, nevermind 3 foot.
Rollins Pass really is nice, isn't it? I started running at school today during lunch! Much to the amusement of my friends.
Anyway, nice job on the rock walls, they'll be a good alternative to the crib wall I've been using more and more recently.

Re: Playing with Blender
The management of the Colusa and Lake thank you for your handyworks.
It's even the right color.

Re: Playing with Blender
Thanks!
If y'all have any other texture requests for that spline, just let me know. I'll upload the blender file as soon as I get around to updating the download pages....
As for Rollins Pass NG, I also did a quick trestle abutment that sorta matches the trestles on that route. Both the abutment and the wall spline are now on the DLS.

Some simple reworks - adding baked shadows to the cattle guards:
And adding baked shadows to the small wood fuel shed - before and after shots:
And a new fill spline; usable under tracks or by itself for a narrow road. Comes in standard gauge size and a touch narrower for NG36 / NG30 track.
Re: Playing with Blender
Nice! We've been needing good fill roads of late. Great job with the cattle guards and wood shed too, in the latter case I'd have sworn you remodeled it completely.
Re: Playing with Blender
It's amazing what a little baked shadows will do....
The fill splines are now posted on the Beta page; feedback welcome....

The fill splines are now on the DLS. Now playing with upgrading my NG36 track. Still need to distress the ties, though....

Re: Playing with Blender
Oooh, will be put to good use with my WIP Colorado & Southern Locos!
A lot better match for snow than your tan ballasted track, that's for sure. XD Very pleased with this development.

Re: Playing with Blender
An old style V&T crossing sign; thanks to a photo from Andrew and some information from Stephen Drew...
No idea about the scale, but that looks reasonable for a drive-under style. If it was beside the wagon road, it could have been a bit smaller.

That looks pretty fabulous, Curtis.
Re: Playing with Blender
Thanks! The crossing sign and the cattle guards are now on the DLS; the NG track (plus a tunnel and a bridge variants) should be there tonight.
