The Virginia and Truckee in Trainz

Goal:  Re-creation of the Virginia & Truckee Railroad circa 1922.

History:

The Virginia and Truckee Railroad was built to serve the Comstock Lode, in Virginia City, Nevada. At its height, the railroad's route ran from Reno south to Carson City, Nevada. In Carson City, the mainline split into two branches. One branch continued south to Minden, while the other branch traveled northeast to Virginia City. The first section was constructed from Virginia City to Carson City in 1869. The line was extended to Reno in 1873, and the Minden branch was built in 1906. The railroad’s initial purpose was to haul ore from the mines to the mills on the Carson River, and take lumber and supplies up to the mines.

Status:

The majority of the V&T and SP trackage in Reno is complete, not including the NCO and the Reno Traction Company.  The majority of buildings in Reno still need to be created, however.  Track has been laid to just past Steamboat, and I'm in the process of adding details along the line.

The site of Peleg Brown's ranch and siding has been located, and placeholder buildings are there now.

The turntable at Steamboat has been completed, and the initial track layout for the Carson City yards is also now complete.
