2012 news:

December 28, 2012

Another version of the West Carson engine house (1907, this time) is now on its way to the DLS; expect to see it in a day or two.
In addition, there's now an early version of some 3' narrow gauge track on the beta page.

The first two versions of the West Carson engine house are now on the DLS.
I've also spent a little time cleaning up the html code for this website; let me know if I broke anything :)

Happy Thanksgiving!
I've uploaded a new version of the engine house (below) to the beta page; any additional feedback is welcome.
I've also uploaded some more source files to the V & T downloads page - namely the early versions of caboose 9 and 10, and the box cars.

One of the West Carson Engine House versions is now on the Beta page. This has a new script to control the various doors individually, so any feedback is welcome.
I've updated the various mesh libraries to conform to an upcoming requirement by N3V. This should also remove the yellow warning in earlier versions of Trainz.  These are now available on the DLS.
There's now a new version of 60lb track on the DLS - this time without ballast. I'm using it in the engine house (above) where the tracks are embedded in the floor, but it should have other uses as well.
Finally, I uploaded the Carson old coal and sand shed model. This is a static, non-interactive model of a likely structure that stood for a few years in the early 1870s in the west Carson City yards.

The West Carson Yards are largely complete. A little more cleanup on the structures, and they're going to the DLS.

With some assistance from Zec and Bloodnok, I've updated the animated bell script to be a bit more robust. A test locomotive has been placed on the Beta page. Any feedback is welcome!

The West Carson yards are progressing, with placeholders for the three buildings (engine house, sand and coal shed, and carpenter shop) in the early 1870's complete and placed.

Working on 3' narrow gauge track. I have some working track, but I need to adjust the tie size and spacing, then clean up the textures. I've also made a little more progress laying track through Washoe canyon, and have started to create buildings for the west Carson yards. Finally, I've (finally) completed and uploaded 1976 versions of cabooses 9 & 10 - they should be available on the DLS in a couple days.

V & T coach-cabooses 9 and 10 (as built - almost*) have been updated with Andrew's imagery and uploaded to the DLS. I've also uploaded updates to two of the water tanks. These are part of a project to update all my water tanks to support rolling and height adjustment, so they work on slight grades such as those found on DEM-based routes. While I'm messing with them, I'm also adding normal maps, performing any needed optimizations, and updating the script so that the spout is down for a length of time proportional to the amount of water being filled.
* - the caboose models are after the Kimball trucks were replaced - maybe a month into service?

I've retextured the V & T cupola caboose 9 with Andrew's imagery, and posted the new version on the Beta page. I've also started laying track between Steamboat and Washoe City.
